History of SpaceX – the ambitious project of Elon Musk
In 2001, Elon Musk seriously thought about flights into space, but not at the state level, but at the private level. He wanted to reduce the cost of space travel enough to put them on stream. History SpaceX has almost 9 years, ups and downs, but Musk never thought to give up his venture with commercial space flights.
History of SpaceX: how it all began
The main task of Ilona was to create a private space airline. That is, the rocket should be reusable, easy to manage and widely available. In addition, Musk wants to go to colonize Mars, and without reusable and cheap rockets, this is virtually impossible, since at first, an active communication with the Earth is required.
The history of SpaceX began in 2001. Given that the materials for the production of the rocket make up only 3% of the final cost of the product, Musk decided that it would be possible to reduce the price of each launch at least tenfold in his own production. Thus, it will be possible to increase the income of the enterprise by 70%. Thus, it was decided to create not just a space airline, but an integrated enterprise for the production of all components for missiles and their launch. Первый продукт получил название Falcon 1.
A trial start was to take place in 2003, but the entrepreneur underestimated the complexity of designing and implementing the idea. “Falcon” was launched only in 2006 – unsuccessfully. There was a fire in the power plant, and the rocket plunged into the sea. Elon admitted that the first launch was unlikely to be successful, so he was morally ready for failure. Then followed by a black stripe two years long. The second and third launches were also unsuccessful, and the whole team had high hopes for the third launch and brought a payload from private customers on board. For the fourth time, the company could not afford to make a mistake. The launch took place in 2008, specialists loaded inside only a model weighing 150 kg.
This time everything went well, the cargo without incident arrived in orbit. From that moment on, the Falcons proved that not all the work of the developers was in vain. According to the results of the next successful flight of Falcon 1, the team stopped developing and engaged in new objects. The project was called Falcon 9. In 2010, a new flying object was installed at the space center and waited for departure. The first launch was canceled due to the confusion, but then the development successfully took off and arrived at the ISS. The second time a remarkable success was the returning cargo ship Dragon, created for NASA.
Then in SpaceX presented the Dragon V2, which was to be used for passenger transportation. The ship could accommodate up to seven astronauts. In 2014, there was a start of the modified Falcon 9 version 1.1R with “Dragon”. The essence of the idea of the Mask was to make the missiles partially reusable – when uncoupling, the upper stage goes to the ISS, and the first comes back home and is used repeatedly. While this idea is in the process of testing and debugging technology. The company has planned more than 20 starts until the end of 2019.
