All IT business areas expect renaissance: venture capital investments will increase significantly
It is predicted that the volume of venture capital investments in Russia will increase by more than 20 times. In 2017, it amounted to 50 billion rubles. And already in 2025, according to forecasts, it will exceed 400 billion. If you look into the more distant future, the picture will change. In 2030, entrepreneurs from various IT fields can receive up to 960 billion.
IT Business Areas Awaiting Funds: Where Does Investment Growth Come From?
Of course, for information technology – the present and the future. It is already difficult to imagine any sector of the economy without IT. Robots come to where the person previously performed simple and heavy functions. And they make work more efficient and cheaper. The market, more than ever, needs specialists in machine learning, artificial intelligence and big data. Therefore, many investors need promising developments (often – at the start).
So, business growth is expected due to easier access of investors to the venture capital market. Fintech and cryptocurrency play a special role in this issue. Analysts predict that digital assets will survive and be used for cross-border remittances. Thus, every penny sent from the other end of the world will go to the addressee. No one disputes the fact that all investments will be transferred to blockchain ecosystem. The market does not need centralization where there are two (or three) parties. Which, moreover, wish to remain anonymous.
As we see, there is someone to invest in IT. Therefore, analysts predict a steady growth of innovative companies in the Russian economy. In 2030, their number will increase by 45% in relation to 2017. It is expected that by 2025 exactly half of all enterprises in the country will begin to engage in innovation activities.
IT business areas and transaction structure
So, the number of transactions in the IT sector will grow. Their structure will also change. In the Russian Federation, 33% of the total number of venture investments accounted for firms that were at the initial stage of development. Sometimes funds received ideas without legal entities and staff.
At the same time, in the USA, mergers and acquisitions were observed at the level of large companies. It is enough, for example, to recall the acquisition by Microsoft of the popular Skype messenger, as well as combining Facebook and Instagram.
It is assumed that investments will receive 60% of companies at the initial and seeding stage of development. 30% of the funds will go to the company at the expansion stage. 10% of the money will go to developed firms.
Of course, funds will be invested for personal gain, and therefore, to increase the production of innovative goods and services in the IT sector. Profits from financing young companies are expected to be received in the short and long term. By 2030, the sales market of IT products will increase at least twice and will be more than 10 trillion rubles.
As for the share of exports of Russian high-tech goods, analysts make cautious forecasts. So, in 2017, it amounted to 0.3% in the global export of high-tech goods. This figure will rise to 0.7% in 2025.
