Mark Zuckerberg was born on 14 May 1984 in New York. He was the fourth child of Karen Kempner and Edward Zuckerberg, who already had three daughters. Mark started getting involved with software back in high school. His coding experience began with learning the basic Atari programming language. At first he was taught by his father, but the young technician grasped everything so quickly that the head of the family soon had to hire a more professional developer.
The success of Mark Zuckerberg and his social network
Zuckerberg was a computer science student at Harvard University when he and his fellow students invented Facebook. Surprisingly, the idea of the most popular social network came to the creators as a result of an unsuccessful attempt to force Internet users to evaluate each other’s photos.
In 2003, Zuckerberg, a second-year Harvard student at the time, wrote software for the Facemash website. The truth is that Mark’s first use of his skills was questionable. He hacked into Harvard’s security network to copy the student database to fill his new website. Users could use the site to compare two photos of students and decide who is more attractive. Facemash was opened on 28 October 2003 and closed a few days after it was discovered by University staff.
The launch of a new website “TheFacebook” brought success to Mark Zuckerberg. He named it after brochures that were distributed to students to help them get to know each other. Six days later, he received a subpoena for plagiarizing the work of undergraduates who accused him of stealing his idea of a social network called HarvardConnection. However, as a result, this issue was settled out of court.
In 2005, after buying a domain facebook.com for $ 200,000. The company changed the name of the site from theFacebook to Facebook. And the subsequent development of the network eventually led till Zuckerberg became the youngest multimillionaire in the world. Today, Facebook is considered the most popular social network in the world with a billion registered users.
